【Director's Note】"Border" Alessio Cremonini
Director's Note
"I am Italian. Damascus is a few hours plane ride from Rome. Several Syriancities have important Roman architectural remains. Often the refugees seek refuge in grottos which thousand of years ago were Roman tombs. Some medieval popes were from Syria. All of these anecdotes have led tounderstand that Syria is not that far from me. I have always thought that cinema is like a plane allowing us to discover worlds, tragedies, that otherwise would remain unknown."
"When I was made aware of the story of two 25 year old Syrian, niqab wearing women, that have been forced to flee to Turkey following the desertion of the husband of one of the two women to the rebel army, I understood that it was a story worth telling. That it was the means, the right "plane" which would allow viewers to get close to one of the most dramatic humanitarian plights of the last few decades."
