Born in a Western Sahara refugee camp, Fatimetu was raised as a foster child in Spain. Hearing news of the death of her mother, she returns to her homeland after 16 years and encounters stark cultural differences. Whilst her elder brother is displeased by the fact she can drive, her elder sister, suffering a walking disability, looks on yearningly. Fatimetu also catches the attention of a young Sahrawi man. Being at once an insider and an outsider, the film shows Sahrawi culture through Fatimetu's eyes as she finds herself torn between two cultures.
