Atsushi Shibuya's "ALIVE - Refugees living on the Burmese border" Photo Exhibition
Date: 2 - 10 October
Place: Istituto Italiano Di Cultura Di Tokyo

Details: Minority ethnic group are being oppressed. As a result, there are more than 150,000 refugees in Thai camps, who have fled war and violence, and in Burma, there are about 500,000 reported refugees. As the militaristic government continues to rule, there is little hope for this problem to be solved. The other day, Karen refugees from Mae-La camp in Thailand arrived in Japan as third-country resettlement refugees. What are these refugee people like? And what about the others who are living in those boarder-camps; Those who are hoping and waiting for the day that they may return to their home countries. We ask that you have awareness about these people from Burma, who have the opportunity to enter our society.
