In 1982, five year-old Sirwan Namo from Northern Iraq flees from Saddam Hussein’s military repression of the Kurds. He spends 16 years living in a refugee camp in northern Iran. In 2007, now thirty years old, Sirwan and his family resettle in New Zealand. Feeling that he cannot simply carry on living a good life whilst ignoring his past, we follow Sirwan’s journey as he travels back to Iraq, 25 year since fleeing, in order to reconnect with the family he was forced to leave.
