【Film Info】The Longest Kiss

poster.jpg
The title of the film comes from the reference by Arabic poets to the meeting point of the Blue Nile and White Nile in the Sudanese capital Khartoum as "the longest kiss in history".
Set in Khartoum, a city filled with the poetic sentiments of the Nile, the title is almost symbolic of the continued and unbreakable relationship between the two states despite the independence of South Sudan in 2011.

The film follows six young Sudanese who will be witness to this pivotal moment in the region's history. Anxious about their future, they are searching for love, happiness for their family and freedom.

How will they react as their homeland slowly turns into something they have never seen before?

O Sudan, your vast land,
the lanrgest in Africa,
where the Blue Nile and the White Nile flow separately
tofinally embrace in Khartoum
the site of the longest kiss in history

scrnsht12.jpg
My identity is shaken
who are we now
Arabs?
Africans?
Between the North and the South
the picture is lost somewhere
our old loves are lost

longestkiss_collage.jpg
My heart is broken
filled with hatred
But we must stand with pride
let the maps explode
how can the land be lost when the future belongs to the Nile?
The Nile knows of the disgrace of cities that have vanished,
knows of the old times,
yet never speaks.
It is the Nile,
Generations will pass,
and there will always be children lingering on its shore,
waiting for it all to end.
