【Film Info】"Pushing the Elephant"
In the late 90s, Rose and her family fled the Democratic Republic of Congo, a nation beset by violence. Resettled in the US, Rose advocates for forgiveness and reconciliation. Over a decade later, one of her children who remained behind joins the family, who must come to terms with a painful past.
After living in a refugee camp, Rose fled from the Democratic Republic of Congo's civil war and immigrated to the United States. There, she started fund-raising activities to support those left behind, especially those who are especially vulnerable such as widows and orphans. Rose founded Mapendo International which supports those who have also resettled in the United States, and has been enthusiastically working as a Human Rights Activist.
"Pushing the Elephant" has been screened at numbers of film festivals worldwide to critical acclaim. Its Japanese premiere will be at the 7th UNHCR Refugee Film Festival.
