【Film Info】"Rebelle (War Witch)"

Komona, a 14 year old girl, tells her unborn child the story of how she became a child soldier and a rebel. It began when she was 12, kidnapped by the rebel army and forced to kill. Her only escape and friend is a 15 year old boy who wants to marry her. Despite the horrors and daily grind of war, they fall in love.

Director Kim Nguyen encountered a girl named Rachel Mwanza during her stay in the Democratic Republic of Congo for research. This meeting would spur Ms. Nguyen to cast Rachel as the lead in "Rebelle", Rachel's debut as an actress.

Rachel won the 2012 Berlin International Film Festival Silver Bear award for Best Actress. "Rebelle (War Witch)" will be screened for the first time in Japan at the 7th UNHCR Refugee Film Festival.
