A border patrolman named Jose, a German tourist named Nathalie, and Zola, a Congolese refugee...Their lives become fatefully intertwined in the Canary Islands.
Directed by Maggie Peren and premiering at Japan's Refugee Film Festival, "Color of the Ocean" depicts the realities faced by those arriving on European shores. The German director maintains that "Germany is the economic powerhouse of Europe, but we insist on closing our eyes to what's happening on our doorstep."
