The year 2008 marks the 60th anniversary of the foundation of Israel. It also denotes the beginning of 60 years of the flight for the Palestinian people. They call this tragedy “Nakba”, meaning catastrophe in Arabic. Since then, at least 420 Palestinian villages have vanished. This film investigates what actually happened in 1948, through the thousands of hours of footage and photographs compiled over 40 years by photojournalist Ryuichi Hirokawa.
